It's funny because this was the one shot I had in mind throughout the entire shoot, and yet we ended up taking it too late, when it was already getting dark, so the picture turned out blurry. But I love it anyway. 😌

MY TAKES AS A COSPLAY JUDGE - Part 2

These opinions come from over 7 years of experience as a cosplay judge.

I'm not saying my perspective will never evolve. That would mean I'm no longer willing to question myself, and I believe that's one of the worst things a judge can do. But there are certain things I firmly stand by.

I've seen judges let their personal preferences cloud their judgment. I've witnessed cheating. I've seen competitors struggle to handle the pressure of competition.

But I've also seen so much more :

I've seen people helping each other, genuine friendships, love, tears of joy, pride, and cosplayers pushing themselves beyond what anyone thought was possible.

I love cosplay. I love cosplay competitions. And I have so much respect for every single competitor, whether they're stepping on stage for the very first time or have been competing for years.

Because stepping onto that stage takes courage. And no matter the outcome, it's an experience that stays with you. Isn't that something worth celebrating? ⭐

Some cosplay judging hot takes you might not agree with.

I believe that being a successful competitor and being a good judge are two different skill sets. But sharing my full opinion on this would require a whole video 🗿

And about 3D printing: I'm not comparing what a sewing machine and a 3D printer actually do. I'm pointing out the double standard in how we perceive tools in craftsmanship.
Both make certain tasks easier, yet one is widely accepted while the other is often dismissed as cheating.

Craftsmanship is about the skills you demonstrate, not simply the tools you use. And yes, creating something from scratch deserves extra recognition!

Judge the craftsmanship, not the tools.

Storytiiiiime of my little adventure during @planeteaworld ’s Matsuri Con in Dakar 🇸🇳

More context before the street animals lovers come at me:

When I found him in the street, he seemed unable to walk properly, but he was moving his legs around in the air. I thought he had been hit on the head and was suffering from some kind of neurological issue.

I’ve taken care of a lot of animals throughout my life, and experience has taught me that in 90% of cases, when you find an injured animal in the street, they die within a few hours.

So my goal wasn’t really to save him. I just wanted to make sure he could die somewhere comfortable rather than in a gutter.

Except, he didn’t die 🤡

Thanks to the daylight, I was able to see the next morning that his little paw was actually broken. The vets told me to either make him a splint and release him, or just release him as he was.

After the night he spent in my bathroom, he seemed much more lively than when I’d found him, so I decided to go with the improvised splint and see what happened.

And that’s the story. 🤷🏼‍♀️

BUT turns out… IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM
Even after a full day of shooting with @thalemia_cosplay and @kimo_photography_ , the resin survived, nothing came off, and it’s STILL glowing 👁️👄👁️

So yeah, it’s not exactly BIG BRAIN engineering, but if you too want to ✨flex✨ with your fancy glowing wizard shoes: skip the markers and GO. FOR. RESIN.

So I finished my Brushbuddy and it is genuinely the cutest thing I’ve made in YEARS.
It reminds me SO MUCH of ferrets, and anyone who’s ever had a fluffy noodle with autism as a pet will know exactly what I mean. 👀

Ferrets are 💥pure chaos💥

Brushbuddy, however, is not. So far he’s actually pretty chill and surprisingly useful, basically everything ferrets are not, let’s be honest.

Now I REALLY want to make a second one, but all black this time. Mostly so I can watch them beat the shit out of each other.
